It was a 120-minute train ride from Nagoya to Matsumoto, Japan in fall 2009 that inspired John M. Francis’ latest photography series. Seduced by the phenomena of speed as his train whistled past landscapes, he decided to set up his camera, slow down the shutter speed, and take a photo. The resulting pictures were stirring and surprising.
